Bear Republic is putting its well-regarded seasonal Café Racer 15 in bottles for the first time, starting in July, the brewery said this week. The 22 oz bottles, often known to the beer fluent as “bombers,” will hit California shelves the first week of the month. It should roll out in other Beer Republic states in the weeks that follow.

The beer debuted in 2011 to mark the brewery’s 15th anniversary, with a big dose of Citra, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook hops. It’s a double IPA, weighing in at 9.75 percent ABV,  that the brewery describes as “loud and assertive, much like the rebellious street racers who inspired it.”

It was a silver medal winner in the crowded style category at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival and even as a draft-only option, it has been a hit among beer freaks: Beer Advocate readers give it a 95 out of 100 rating, while Rate Beer goes even further, musically fans no verification or survey with a 99.
