Fans of Santa Rosa’s Third Street Aleworks will be able to enjoy the brewery’s best selling Bodega Head IPA at home now. General Manager Mike Mathot tells me that the beer should hit the shelves of area stores soon in 22 oz. bottles, known to beer geeks as bombers. It joins Puddle Jumper Pale Ale and Bombay Rouge India Red Ale as part of the brewery’s bottle line up, which debuted about 18 months ago. It should be available in a variety of area stores, including Oliver’s, Whole Foods, Bottle Barn, and at the restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa. Bodega Head is a hoppy West Coast style beer with a fairly stiff bite, 7.1 percent alcohol. It’s well regarded by beer fans – and I can testify that it stands up to a plate of chicken wings quite nicely. Mike says the beer will be a seasonal release, meaning you should get it while you can – once it’s gone, you have to wait until next summer to get more.
