Sebastopol’s Barlow, the funky new restaurant/shopping district on the east side of town, will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday from 4-9 p.m. with music, food, and all those fun street fair kinds of things.

From a Beer Country perspective, that means our Barlow-dwelling friends at Spirit Works distillery and Woodfour Brewing will be in on the fun. I haven’t heard from Woodfour on whether they have anything special going, though you can bet they will be open, so stop in for food and their interesting and eclectic lineup of German-inspired beer.

Spirit Works, meanwhile, has grabbed the opportunity to have its own coinciding grand opening party – a cocktail party, natch – from 5-7 p.m., with tours of the distillery, hors d’oeuvres, and cocktails made with the distillery’s grain-to-glass gin and sloe gin, drinks designed by the mix-masters at Forchetta Bastoni restaurant. You can also meet the brains behind the operation, owners Timo and Ashby Marshall, who are a colorful couple.
