Those itching for a taste of Russian River Brewing’s Framboise for the Cure are out of luck as the Santa Rosa brewery has sold out of its seasonal brew.

Russian River offers the beer, a sour blonde ale that contains 30 pounds of raspberries per barrel to turn it pinkish-red, up during October to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and prevention. The beer carries a high Beer Advocate score of 98.

Russian River raised more than $100,000 from its efforts last year. Co-owner Natalie Cilurzo said Russian River partnered with Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa eight years ago to start to raise, raising approximately $4,000.

“When I learned about the Sutter breast care center, I loved that all the money we donate stays in our community and goes directly to patients who need screening and treatment,” Cilurzo said via email.

Four years ago, her husband and Russian River’s brewmaster, Vinnie Cilurzo, made Framboise and since then, fundraising has taken off.

The brewery still has merchandise available for sale – with the tagline of “All hopped up for the cure” – and is selling some raffle tickets for some prizes. A drawing for the items will be held at its Halloween party on Oct. 30. Prizes include a Vespa primavera 150; a custom hollow-body acoustic guitar made by Timmy Lovold and his friends; and an Electra Amsterdam Joyride cruiser.
