Petaluma River Craft Beer Festival on Saturday

Fourteen local breweries will be on display Saturday at the Petaluma River Craft Beer Festival, from 1-6 p.m. on Water Street in downtown Petaluma. There will be food from a variety of area restaurants, and music by The Fossils, joined by some other local favorites. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door, including a souvenir glass and 10 tasting tickets. But nobody under 21 is allowed at any price. St. Florian’s celebrates six months with new offering

Windsor’s St. Florian’s Brewery is marking its six month anniversary with a new brew, its California Common (what would otherwise be known as a “Steam Beer” had Anchor not long ago trademarked the name). Co-owner Amy Levin says the beer should start hitting the shelves in the region in the next 24 hours – and she would know too, since she not only does the marketing and books, but she drives the beer to the stores and bars herself. Breastfest 2013 hits San Francisco

As you have certainly noticed, beer companies have a long and not entirely dignified history of employing (or exploiting) breasts to sell their products in ads. Since 2000, however, some breweries have turned this partnership to a more noble cause, this time exploiting  beer to help breasts, or at least help fund breast cancer treatment. California Beer Festival this weekend

Marin County will host the California Beer Festival on Saturday in Novato, with 70 beers on tap, music and a BBQ cookoff. It will run from 12:30-5 p.m. in Stafford Lake Park. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door.
