Here’s an interesting one for this weekend. UC Davis will be hosting a workshop on Saturday called “Fermentation at its Finest: A Journey into Pairings of Beer and Cheese.” Brewing professor/guru Charles Bamforth will team up with Seana Doughty, president of the California Artisan Cheese Guild, to explore the ways that these two products can combine to elevate the experience of both.

“There is a vast range of beer and tastes and aromas to delight in and just as many cheese sensations to devour,” the university explains. “When they come together, it is truly is a gastronomic triumph.”

The afternoon starts with a lecture and tasting and winds up with a beer, cheese and appetizer reception in the evening.

The event runs 2-6 p.m. at the Robert Mondavi Institute in Davis. Tickets are $65 for the public, $55 for UC faculty, students, and staff. The last day to register, however, is Friday, so get on it.
