The annual Beer in the Plaza returns to Healdsburg on Sept. 7 for its 27th year, benefiting the Healdsburg chapter of Soroptimist International. From 2-6 p.m. in the lovely downtown plaza, there will be music, food, and beers from 25 breweries. The service club tells me they have an outstanding lineup for us, including:  Bear Republic, Russian River, Sudwerk, Healdsburg Brewing, St. Florians, Third Street Aleworks, Lagunitas, 21st Amendment, Ace Cider, Ruth McGowan, Sierra Nevada, Goose Island, 101 North, Abita, Anderson Valley, Mendocino Brewing, Black Diamond, Butte Creek, Craft Brewers Alliance (makers of Redhook, Widmer Bros. and Kona) , Eel River, North Coast, Ninkasi, Lost Coast, Full Sail, Stone, Dempseys, Deschutes, Firestone Walker, Grand Teton, Hangar 24, Iron Springs, Moylans Brewing, Moonlight Brewing, and Alaskan.

Tickets are $25 for beer-drinking-aged people, $10 for those 8-20, and free for the under-8 set. Tickets are available online and at Bear Republic and Copperfield’s Books. They will also be sold at the gate. For information, call (707) 480-8864 or visit their website, www.sihealdsburg.org.

Proceeds go to support a variety of local and international initiatives by the club to support and empower women and girls, including the county YWCA, the Drug Abuse Alternatives Center, and the Sonoma County Cancer Risk Assessment Project.
