Have the day off and not sure what to do? I have three options, all taking place today. You can take a drive north for an epic beer festival, celebrate May Day with a craft brewery in Novato, or stay close to downtown Santa Rosa listening to music, while enjoying food from local food vendors. So many options so little time.

The 20th Annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival kicks off at 1pm today. Beer will be flowing until 5pm and music will continue for an additional hour, concluding at 6pm. A limited amount of tickets will be sold at the gate, so I suggest that you contact a friend that is already in the area about checking availability and possibly purchasing you a ticket before taking the trip out to the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville. Tickets will be sold for $60 while supplies last. Over 80 breweries are expected to participate and the price of admission includes unlimited beer samples.

If you’re headed south, Baeltane Brewing Company, located at 401-B Bel Marin Keys Blvd in Novato, welcomes you to join them for their May Day Fest celebration. Food and music begin at 4pm, Maypole at 5pm and beer will be available between 2pm and 10pm. A Maypole is a tall wooden pole around which a Maypole dance often takes place. This is a tradition that takes place in many European folk festivals.

Downtown Eats & Beats will go from 12pm to 5pm in Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. Dozens of local food vendors will compete for the People’s Choice Award.Tickets are $20 at the door and include a drink ticket, music by Simply Amazing and games. $5 from every ticket will go to the Santa Rosa tree lighting event. Additional tickets for beer and wine will be available for purchase.
