The popularity of craft beer seems to be at an all-time high. Not everyone is content to simply sit on the sidelines and taste the delicious beer that is being made by others. A growing number of people are choosing to roll up their sleeves and home brew their own beer.

The Sonoma Beerocrats is an American Home-brewers Association sanctioned home brewing club based in Sonoma County. They welcome new members to show up to one of their monthly meetings that usually take place at a different location with some of those meetings taking place at local breweries.  Currently the group has 104 members. There are a few members that are making stellar beer and working towards taking their ‘hobby’ into a full time job some day.

The Beerocrats and some of the best beer that the group is currently making will be on full display when they set up a pouring station at the upcoming Ready, Set, Growl beer festival that will be taking place on Sunday, August 24, between 11am and 3pm. This will be an opportunity for local home brewers to pour side-by-side with 26 professional breweries that include Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Faction, Firestone, Stone and the list goes on.
