Bear Republic is adding its award-winning Grand Am American pale ale to its year-round bottle lineup, replacing the XP Pale Ale.

“We feel that it truly measures up to its comrades in the ‘Racer’; family and has solidified its place at Bear Republic,” Brewmaster Rich Norgrove said in a release announcing the change.

The beer won Gold in the American Pale Ale category at the California State Fair in 2013 and previously had been available on draft only. It weighs in at 6.5 percent alcohol by volume and a moderate bitterness, at 45 IBUs. It features four hops – Galena, Cascade, Crystal, and Amarillo – and the brewery describes it as a “sessionable yet assertive ale [that] balances both classic and new American hop varieties with a distinct malt backbone.”

The release will roll out through the spring across the country. To kick off, on April 5 and 6, the brewpub in Healdsburg will be offering “a special epicurean pairing of Grand-Am with local cheeses and salami” for $18.
