Bear Republic is making some adjustments in its lineup, starting with news that the Brown Bear Black Stout will be available for the first time in six packs, good news for stout drinkers who want a manageable size to take home and enjoy. Previously it was available only on draft and in 22 oz bottles. The beer is a past award winner at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup. It’s also a favorite of Charbay distiller Marko Karakasevic and forms the base of his recently-released S whiskey.

Meanwhile, Bear Republic is releasing its seasonal Apex Special IPA this month on draft and in 22 oz bottles. The IPA, which weighs in at nearly 9 percent alcohol by volume and more than 100 IBUs, is a past silver medal winner at the GABF. It features a whopping seven hop varieties in various roles: Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Chinook, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra.

And in the good news department, Bear Republic’s flagship Racer 5 IPA got a nice plug in Vanity Fair recently when actress Keri Russell revealed that she is a “beer snob” and favors Racer 5, though she’ll settle for Sierra Nevada brews if necessary.
